ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSIVITY ARE IMPORTANT
No matter whether it is a personal project or a design for an employer, one thing I take exceptionally seriously in my designs is accessibility and inclusivity. I want to ensure my designs are able to be viewed by as many people as possible, which means I utilise a lot of sans-serif fonts and larger font sizes, as well as ensuring the contrast of my designs is at an appropriate level. Every person should have the opportunity to decide if a product or service is for them, and barriers in design should be broken down where possible.
MULTI-INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Both in Australia where I was born and in Canada where I immigrated in 2013, I have had the opportunity to work in a number of industries including hospitality, healthcare (long-term care and retirement), retail, government (justice and transportation), and sales and accounting. This broad industry experience provides me with a unique understanding of different sectors; information I aim to use to influence my designs where appropriate. However, research is key and I am always willing to seek out new information where possible.
